Someone Made the HackerPod
Several years ago in a flash of inspiration I realized what I really wanted was a "neutral" position chair with integrated monitors, keyboard, trackpad and PC. Well it looks like someone has come up with something halfway there. The Total Immersion Personal Computer Environment is very close to what I once called "The Hacker Pod." (Thanks to the good folks at Oh! Gizmo! for pointing me to the story at übergizmo about this chair.)My idea was a lot better, of course. You could tilt it back and forth to reduce the total pressure on any one part of your body from time to time. Not to mention mine didn't look like an exercise machine; it looked much, much cooler. And it had an integrated coffee machine. Of course mine had the drawback that it was the delusional idea of an overworked software engineer. So hats off to the MyPCE folks for getting something shipped. It's a touch ugly and a might expensive, but it's well on the way to being something I might want to buy.
